One thing we discover is that Holden is somewhat jealous of Stradlater because he got to date Jane and Holden wishes he could. The second thing we discover is that Holden is a quite protective person because when Stradlater is bragging about the things he and Jane had done, Holden became very angry and wanted to hit him.
